Andrew Playford is a South African who lives in Chicago, USA. He is the current founder and CEO of Signature Days, a successful, online experience gift company. Prior to Signature Days, Andrew lived in New York where he successfully co-founded SmartRay Networks, a real time alerting platform for mobile networks. After graduating from the University of Cape Town, South Africa (1990) with a Bachelors degree in Business Science, he went to London, joined Price Waterhouse and qualified as a Chartered Accountant (ACA).

Why I Set Up This SiteFrustrated with the high commissions charged by galleries in both London and New York, I created this site to profile my own set of works and those of a few of my friends. The sole purpose of the site is to bring together people who are genuinely interested in these works by Nelson Mandela and to facilitate arms length commercial exchanges at prices which reflect market rates but which share the cost savings afforded by excluding galleries and their huge commissions (30% to 50%). The 15% commission quoted here is to cover for the site development, the marketing and the time required for administration. The generation of commission is “not a business model”.
